The state of Illinois Board of Higher Education has just passed its approval, so our last remaining course, FORSC 243 (Forensic Internship) has been articulated for transfer credit as an occupational course. This makes everything that is listed under the FORSC (Forensic Science) designation as 100% transferable, nationwide.

Recent Grad Does Well in Internship at Mesa Arizona

One of our recent grads from our program, Jessica Smith, completed her internship in sunny Mesa, AZ. She tells of having a great time and some awesome experiences, with a progressive department. Based on her experiences, there are several job prospects she will have to mull. This past week, she got the news that a latent print she recovered and processed had enough points for an AFIS "hit" and connected the suspect to a stolen vehicle. (I've seen fellow officers make it through an entire CAREER without ever making such a hit!) Above is Jessica in her duty attire, in front of the Mesa Crime Scene Vehicle. Way to go Jessica!

IAI CERTIFICATION EXAM FOR LEVEL (Tentative date)
Any student who wishes to take the IAI certification exam should email me (Mr. DeFranco)ASAP. I would like to give an exam May 2010, . Here are the prerequisites to take the exam:

1) must be a IAI member ( have at least 2.5 GPA, and obtain intro letter from me (Mr. D.) to give the IAI).
2) Go to the IAI website, obtain application to take the exam. Application Pay your fee of $100.00 to take the exam.

ICC CSI Are The National Champion Collegiate Crime Scene Investigation Team!

Our team of Robert Johnson, Serena Donley, & Theresa Hicks are the new National Champions in Collegiate Crime Scene Investigation,. They received their gold medals in front of 15,000 peers and educators in Kansas City's Kemper Arena. They led all competitors from around the country in ALL categories, even gaining perfect scores in some. Out of 1000 available, they finished with 937 points for a 93.7%, the closest finisher behind them finished in the mid-eighties. We are proud of our students and our program. ICC's team is coached by Michael Ripsch & A.Michael DeFranco, Program Director.

As of April 23, 2008 the Crime Scene Technology degree program at Illinois Central College is International Association for Identification certified!
